The UK FarmHouse social fraternity returned from its national meeting with five chapter awards, including two for being among the top 10 chapters in the nation.
The Chapter Award of Excellence is reserved for the top 10 chapters in the nation. UK's FarmHouse was then named the second best chapter among all FarmHouse chapters. The awards are determined through a point system that is based on the chapter's performance in all the awards categories.
"Being named the No. 2 chapter in the nation put us in a sense of awe. We knew that we were close, but we had no idea how close we were to No. 1," said Aaron Miller, animal science and agriculture economics junior and FarmHouse member.
The Conclave Conference was held in St. Louis, Mo., on Aug. 17-20 with 15 chapters represented and 300 members in attendance. The national meeting for the FarmHouse chapters is held biannually. At the meeting, individual and chapter awards are presented to those who represented the organization best.
The UK chapter was awarded with the President's Trophy.
This award is given to the chapter that has the most active members. FarmHouse had 25 people travel to St. Louis this year.
The UK Chapter was also presented with an award for being the best in the nation in the area of financial management. Among the other awards, the chapter was awarded the Outstanding Alumni Newsletter. The newsletter award is based upon creativity, design and information provided. Farm House produces an alumni newsletter every semester.
Members of FarmHouse have set a goal to be the No. 1 chapter in the nation by the next national meeting.
"To have a chapter ranked so highly in the nation brings a positive reputation to our chapter that we are very proud of," said Miller.
