Keeneland kicks off spring meeting

Keeneland's Spring Meet opens today and continues April 26.
There is no racing on Mondays or Tuesdays; the track will also be closed Sunday for Easter.
Gates open at 11 a.m. on race days with the first race going off at 1:30 p.m.
General admission is $2.50. Reserved seats are are $3 on weekdays, $5 on Saturdays and Sundays. Parking is free.
The feature race of the meet is the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes scheduled for April 13.
The race is considered the last major prep race for the Kentucky Derby. The Derby is run the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky..
Reserved seat are already sold out for the Blue Grass when the gates open at 10:30 a.m. with post time at 12:30 p.m.
This spring, there will be a new transportation option for those wishing to attend the races. Lextran will offer special trolley shuttle service to Keeneland from convenient pick-up spots on the UK service and downtown Lexington.
Pickups and returns will run Wednesday-Saturday hourly from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The first trolley will arrive at Keeneland at 11. The fare is $1 each way. Call 253-4636 for more information.
Keeneland opened its site on the World Wide Web yesterday (http://www.keeneland.com). Entries are available by 8 p.m. on the evening prior to racing.
Flash results are available by 7 p.m. the evening of races with full results posted by noon the day following the races.
In addition, racing, sales and general information is available on the Keeneland web site.
