UK women battle Arkansas Sunday

The UK women's basketball team will make yet another attempt to win their first Southeastern Conference game this year as they play host to No. 22 Arkansas 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Coliseum.

The Cats are 4-14 overall, 0-7 in the SEC and in the midst of a nine-game losing streak after Wednesday's home loss to South Carolina.

The Lady Razorbacks (15-6, 1-4) enter this game on a roll after winning two straight. But this streak comes on the heels of a five game slide which saw them plummet from the No. 8 ranking in the polls in early January.

Arkansas head coach Gary Blair said UK's record is in contrast to how they have actually played.

"They've played basically everybody in the conference close with the exception of (the loss to Carolina)," Blair said, "which surprised me."

He also said UK sophomore center Kim Denkins will be a force for his team to stop.

"She works hard without the basketball," Blair said, "and I think that's what separates a lot of post players. She works hard and is able to get a lot of easy baskets because they are able to find her on a move."
