With the onset of the new bike policy, I already see a dilemma emerging which is most evident on Patterson Drive. Pedestrians have, for some unnamed reason, mistaken the bike lanes for new lanes to walk in.I have come close to hitting two people in two days as I was riding. If a vehicle had also been passing, the pedestrians would have been toast. I want a safe campus but find it obnoxious that any one would walk the bike lanes.
This is not to say people do not have a right to walk through the lanes but to continue to walk in them as if they were extensions of the sidewalk is not only unfair it's completely moronic. For your own health and the health of others, it's advisable NOT to spend extended periods of time in a bike lane.
