Students and parents get together for UK Family Weekend

Staff report

Under the theme "Now and Then, Together Again," this year's Family Weekend offered activities for both students and families that will rekindle the spirit often lost when students go off to college.

The Student Activities Board offers the weekend to allow families and other visitors to see what campus life is really like. Friday was a free-day allowing parents and students to become reacquainted.

A Saturday morning reception was held at the King Alumni House sponsored by the UK Alumni Association. Visitors met with University administrators and listened to the sounds of the UK AcoustiKats.

At the afternoon picnic, a live band entertained the crowd in Seaton Field across from Commonwealth Stadium. The theme of the picnic was "1964: The Tribute." The band was a national touring group that offers tribute to the Beatles.

A brunch was held yesterday at the Hilary J. Boone Faculty Center.
